The main objective of the team’s study trip was to get know the best practices according to reduce youth unemployment. They visited many stakeholders who were interviewed (e.g. Breiðholts, Hitt Húsid, Icelandic Confederation of Labour, Icelandic Human Rights Centre, Icelandic Youth Council, Margrét Einarsdóttir/University of Iceland, MSS (Life Long Learning Centre of Keflavík), Reykjavík University; Stigamót Centre, The Centre of the Icelandic Salvation Army, The Icelandic Directorate of Labour, The Icelandic Women’s Right Association, University of Iceland etc).
The team highlighted 5 best practices they have got know: a program, titled ‘Job Forum’ of Directorate of Labour, Hitt Húsid and Breidholts youth centers (both of them offer informal learning methods inside their community places), Education and Training Service Center, Open university courses that are available for anyone including unemployed in order to keep them active and make them able to apply different jobs.
They also see the cross-sectoral co-operation as a best practice as the churches have roles in giving social help for vulnerable groups (e.g. they organize ‘Homeless theatre’). The team also started disseminating their experiences trough formal and informal presentations (Sándor Illyés College, Free University of High School Students, Economy Politechnic, TÁMOP 3.1.10. Department (EU funded projects focusing on development of local education management) of the Directorate of Education Office, Invisible Study hall and within the team’s professional network. They got ready for the TEDxYouth, however they failed the last audition. Lilla started her PhD School thus more publication is expected based on this study trip and her previous professional experience.
