The main title and goals of the project are to create and test a model initiative which can support to build trust between law enforcement agencies and those Roma people - mainly youth - who live in segregated and diadvantaged area of the capital city of Hungary. It is a goal as well to encourage other organizations to adapt this basic project.
Direct target group are the Roma pupils, their parents and teachers, indirect target groups are the local and regional Roma community, law enforcemt population and the media.
The most important project activities in Roma Police Club are special presentations for Roma pupils, their parents and teachers involving every participants, creating publication about the common work, visiting police, organizing club parties and organizing a final seminarium.
The association, the police and the school are able to build trust between Romas and police. We call Roma youth's attention for law enforcement career opportunities, we send a strong message to them: this police is your police, we try to change their attitude for more understanding of police, we encourage them to know and choose police careers and finally we increase the number of Roma people in law enforcement population.
