PROJECT TITLE: The Roseto-project
PROJECT GOALS, OBJECTIVES
Objective: to enhance communication skills of inhabitants of the XIth district of Budapest, to ameliorate their ability for self-representation. Goal: to enhance community life in the district, to strengthen co-operations and to incite people to exercise their democratic rights.
We have 3 big target groups from the XIth district: students, retired people, and job-seekers/maternity leave benefiters. They are from different parts of society but have similar problems on the whole – to which they may give better answers after our project.
METHODS AND ACTIVITIES
The core of our project is a communication activity with the active participation of our groups. All 3 groups will have 1-1 monthly session of 2-3 hrs, for 10 months. The methods applied are Theatre in Education, forum theatre, legislative theatre and debate theatre – we use these to teach our groups communication skills to enable them to represent their own as well as their group’s interest later. At the end of the project the groups will present a joint production. The underlying theme of the sessions will be action against discrimination.
LEVEL OF INVOLVEMENT AND ACTIVITY OF PARTNERS
We’ll seek connections with civic organisations and municipalities – first in the district and later in the country, to distribute our method. We’ll elaborate a programme that requires minimal props and equipment, for widespread adaptation.
