To project aimed at providing answers to the daily environmental and social sustainability lifestyle challenges of the students, teachers, their families and the wider community of the Waldorf school of Szeged. As part of the implementation 4 study trips (e.g. to eco-farms and waste treatment facility in the area), 12 sustainable lifestyles and / or workshops and various infrastructural developments took place. A system for the school’s selective waste collection, composting at the school yard, and rainwater collection and utilization have been developed and introduced alike. Half of the 1200 sqm big schoolyard, previously covered with asphalt, has been turned to be a biodynamic school garden with the removal of the cladding and soil replacement, while a community space has been set up on the other using recycled wood materials. Additionally, a 50 sqm covered bicycle storage facility was also built. The local exchange trading scheme of the school’s community has been also renewed partly by recruiting new members but also renewing its online management system and developing the conditions for joining the city’s larger volume “Suska Circle”. As a result of the project, the strength, environmental awareness and the quality of the services provided by the community have been improved, while its connections to other civic groups have become more differentiated and tightened.
