The ultimate goal of the project was to evaluate and influence water-related public decision making by the review and facilitation of public discussion of the Hungarian River Catchment Management Plan with the aim of improving quality as well as ecological status of living waters and mitigating climate change. Fot that, the grantee has conducted active networking in terms of building and/or continuing active working relationships with the most important stakeholders (including water management authorities, policy making and academic institutions, 21 local and national civil society organizations, municipalities, farmers) providing 3 workshops for local stakeholder groups in Miskolc and Edelény and 2 meetings for professionals and municipality representatives in Miskolc and Bodrogolaszi. Actual policy frameworks as well as infrastructural interventions and water management conflicts present in BAZ county were overviewed, mapped and discussed, while the water management issues of the Bódva catchment area was scrutinized and analyzed in detail in the light of 2 realized EU funded operative programmes in relation to the National Water Strategy.
