The Pangea Association is engaged with active natural conservation and environmental education in the Bakony Mountains for more than 20 years. This project aimed at the renovation of the abandoned Eperjes study trail in strong cooperation with the Bakony-Balaton Geopark, the municipality of Olaszfalu as well as two local NGOs.
In the project based on the instructions of Geopark experts volunteers have cleared the trail during their 2013 Gaia camp, but information signs, wooden furnitures of rest sites, as well as blazes have got replaced and renovated alike. For educative and information purposes 2 new exhibits have been installed and a guide have been printed in 10,000 copies that is available for the public from the involved partners.
Results include the renewed study path that enriches not only the range of tourist destinations of the area, but also the service possibilities of the partner organisations each of one can provide thematic programmes on the spot as of now. Besides, Pangea has managed to expand its professional and civic network strengthening its local presence; retrained several dozens of volunteers in relation to active natural protection; as well as could develop its capacities by the recruitment of new volunteers as well as dynamizing old ones.
